UAE Reduces Processing Time for Residency Visas and Work Permits to Five Days

The UAE has significantly cut the processing time for residency visas and work permits from 30 days to just five days with the launch of the second phase of the Work Bundle platform.

This initiative, introduced on Tuesday, aims to streamline the hiring process for businesses and simplify pre-renewal procedures for existing employees. Initially launched in Dubai in March, the platform is now operational across all seven emirates and is set to benefit around 600,000 companies and over seven million workers. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced that in the third phase these services will be extended to domestic workers.

Currently, Work Bundle services are accessible through its website (workinuae.ae), with a mobile app in development.

Services Simplified by Work Bundle:

The Work Bundle platform consolidates eight work and residency procedures into one streamlined process, reducing redundancy and easing the onboarding of new employees. Key services include:

  • Issuing new work permits
  • Adjusting visa status
  • Issuing visas and employment contracts
  • Emirates ID, residency, and medical examination services
  • Renewing employment contracts and residency
  • Cancelling employment contracts, work permits, and residency

How to Access Work Bundle:

The services are available on the Work Bundle website, with a mobile app to be launched soon.

Efficiency and Simplification:

The platform requests data only once, using it across all services to minimize procedural requirements and enhance service delivery. Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili highlighted that this reduces the number of required visits by 80%, significantly saving time and effort.

Implementation Across the UAE:

Following its initial implementation in Dubai, the Work Bundle platform is now operational across all emirates. Mohamed bin Taliah, chief of Government Services of the UAE Government, emphasized that the platform’s expansion reflects the concerted efforts of various federal and local entities to simplify procedures in line with the UAE’s Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme.

Development and Security:

The second phase of Work Bundle was developed by several government entities, including the MoHRE, Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, Emirates Health Services, Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority, and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi. These entities have re-engineered services to be more efficient and customer-centric.

Khalil Al Khoori, undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs at MoHRE, assured that Work Bundle adopts a secure and reliable payment mechanism, ensuring speed and quality of services. This unified payment model reduces the number of required visits and documents, leveraging modern technology and digital platforms to enhance inter-agency collaboration.

Al Khoori emphasized that this platform marks a significant advancement in the design and delivery of government services to meet future demands.
